Trip 2019 - The Deep
2019-08-28
The goal this year was to sail over the deepest part of the lake, which according to the charts is in Whitefish Bay down by Sioux Narrows. I set sail with a strong west wind which would give me 5 to 6 knots the entire day.
After sailing 28 nautical miles, as the sun set on the horizon I decided to find shelter while there was still some light. I tucked in behind an island sheltered from wind and waves and heated up a can of stew for supper. I relaxed by watching a movie while slowly being rocked to sleep.

The wind was even stronger today so after a simple breakfast, the sail was reefed and I set off for Whitefish Bay. After some very rough weather and 7.6nm later, I arrived at my destination. The charts showed a depth of 216 feet but I was only able to find 205 feet and due to the increasingly bad weather I was unable to safely spend more time out in the open waters.
I found a beautiful anchorage nearby and decided to spend the rest of my time there, safely tucked away from the raging wind and waves.

Fall 2019 - A New Ride
2019-10-01
3 Monkey's trailer has certainly served its purpose but as the years pass, it's age is definately showing. Rust has set in and I worry about structural failure. After some research online I purchased a custom trailer from Marine Cradle Shop in southern Ontario. They required very little information and were able to manufacture an amazing trailer! The sailboat rides so smooth, like it's not even there. (plus it looks great)
