After having the Cordon Bleu out a few times, I noticed the upper portion
of the top sail slug was broken. It was only a matter of time before the
bottom snapped, rendering the entire slug useless.
The problem with replacing the top slug is that the headboard covers
the fabric which holds the slug in place. To get at the fabric would mean
drilling out all the rivits which hold the headboard together. Not sure
why it wasn't bolted to allow easier access.
Since the slug was so close to the top of the headboard, my solution
was to use the existing holes and use strong UV resistant ty-raps. This
allowed the slug to rotate freely while at the same time, the slug was
held firmly in place. I used 2 ty-raps throught the main hole and "just
in case", attached a thinner backup ty-rap using the second hole.
