Yes, it is very sad to feel the chill in the air and see the ice creeping over the lake. The wind still blows though!!! Maybe with some luck those of us in Northwestern Ontario will have sunny skies and an early thaw in Spring. Hey, I know a guy who used a chainsaw to get his boat in the water!!!

Nice blog. I am reading everything I can about sailing while here in Iraq, southern Baghdad. When I am not on patrols I am on the Internet ~ best way to pass the time! Modern warfare, ha. Planning to get a Catalina Capri 18 for my first boat when I get home.

How sad summer has drawn to a close on your sailing. Will miss reading about your adventures & challenges. It was inspiring & encouraging to see how you & your family overcome obstacles together & shared in so many experiences & the beauty of nature as seen in your photos.

Greetings Captin! I must say the spinnaker on the Cordon Bleu is a beautiful site! The genoa is hard to hold "down" even in a quiet channel. The jib just didn't do the job with little wind but I sure did learn a lot about the "ship"!

What a great job you did on this boat. You seem to work like a wizard, making nice things happen from an old boat, looking like brand new. Lots of elbow grease, which is needed, and the great power of motivation, on your big familly project. Keep us informed of your nice works !!!

Even tho' my first sail on something bigger than a lazer was a slow one, I thank my liddle buddee for the ride.

I have heard of the adventures of the Cordon Bleu since the very beginning. Great stories and super family shots! But.......when do your friends get to go for a sail?

I just bought a Sirius 21. It has some damage on it that I am going to be fixing over the next few months. It's my first boat too and it was inspirational to see what you did with yours. Some parts of my boat are far worse than yours was but then some parts are better.

My husband, Dave, would have been pleased to know his sailboat is in such good hands. We had many good days sailing the boat that we called "At Last". Enjoy your summer.

We are in the process of replacing much of the interior of our 1980 sirius "morning star" Just recently bought three sheets of mahogony marine grade. today we're cutting out a new companionway and laminating strips of mahogany and ash to create anew curved tiller. Have you thought of putting in a wooden cabin sole.

I had fun reading about your adventure. It helped me pass a quiet afternoon at work. I also aquired a Sirius 21 last summer. Fortunately, it is in very good shape, and requires minimal work. Good luck with your boat. I'll check back in the spring to see the final results.

Great site !!! - I found it just recently, while doing some research on the Sirius 21. Today I closed the deal on a Sirius for our family, I can hardly wait until the snow is gone and I can get her home to start the process that you have chronicalling on this site.
